Description

Iva Hüttnerová

She was born on 17 December 1948 in Prague.

Actress, presenter, artist.

Her parents divorced and she then lived with her grandmother and grandfather in an apartment house in Letná. As a child she used to play in Stromovka from spring to winter. Iva Hüttnerová liked to paint and read poems. At the age of thirteen she started attending a drama club and played Barunka in Božena Němcová's Babička. When she was fifteen, her grandmother died and Iva began to live in the Youth Home and study at the gymnasium. However, she was not interested in her studies and preferred to go to Olympik concerts after school. After two years, she left high school and started working at Geophysics. Eventually, she was accepted at the DAMU. She lived with a Yugoslavian camerawoman in the dormitory and learned Serbo-Croatian from her and her friends. Jan Kanyza, who painted pictures with oil paints, also lived in the same dormitory. It was then that Iva Hüttner also longed to paint and started with surrealism. However, this style did not suit her and she found her way only when she was composing a group of Old Prague songs, for which it was necessary to paint narrative posters with pictures and a short plot. She really started painting when she was pregnant with her son Matthew and her husband Ivan bought her oil paints.
